Our Artist-In-Residency program offers a unique opportunity for visiting artists introduced to new recycling methods while embracing their practices. In a fast-paced and supportive environment, we offer solo & team residencies/workshops online or an in-person experience in New Orleans. We are designed to foster a connecting the vibrant culture of New Orleans. It's celebratory parade culture infused with recycling and abundant creativity. All for the focus on sustainability within an artist community, giving artists, curators, and writers the time and space to bring their projects to life.
Through The Recycle Challenge, we believe in creating opportunities for children and adults in the Lower 9th Ward and New Orleans who face social and economic disadvantages. Our solo and team-shared residency programs and workshops, offer a fair and balanced support system, ensuring that our communities have access to enriching experiences and resources. By fostering creativity, collaboration, and cultural engagement, we aim to level the playing field and empower individuals to thrive and contribute to the vibrant culture of New Orleans.
The Recycle Challenge Artist in Residency programming allows visiting artists' residency and workshop fees to directly assist in funding a fair and balanced experience for selected local youth and adults. In the event visiting artists needs assistance with their residency or workshop fees, with a reduction towards their programming costs. LENGTH OF RESIDENCE
Since 2019, Madera Rogers-Henry, our CFO has been conducting online trainings with numerous organizations and currently, we have three full year Artist-In-Residence. One, Reuben Craddock recieves payment. For the past three years, our biggest effort is with The Milliners Association with Nigeria. Where Madera conducts training and features a contest for the milliners who create the bext looking "Trash Hats". We are excited to announce our Artist in Residency Program, featuring nine months of programming and workshops from August to April 2025.
Again, we must state how appreciative we area for the financial support of attendees participating in our programming. Both the team and solo residency programs are funded by the participants who attend. The funding assists the non-profit Literacy Project International aka Whose Magazine? A Youth Publication along with The Recycle Challenge is the program of. Our team-focused projects and solo experiences range from:

(So) 2) A 3-week solo residency allows visiting artists to have a private studio within our offices.
*Each solo resident is asked to conduct one workshop, community-centered experience,
or discussion about their work and the influence New Orleans has had on it.
